Good to Know

  • The EU's biometric entry system records a photo and fingerprints on first entry. Hotels are confirmed with your final documents; if a property changes, the replacement is of the same category. European hotel categories are not standardized against US ratings: rooms are usually smaller and many hotels occupy historic or older buildings, some in outer districts. One checked bag up to 50 lb (23 kg) plus a personal item. Airlines assign free seats subject to availability, seats together are not guaranteed, and some carriers charge for seat selection. Half of the tour price is due 91 days before departure and the balance 45 days before; the deposit and both payments are non-refundable, and a medical exception can be requested through your advisor without guarantee. Business-class fares are available on request and must be paid the day they are quoted. Travel insurance is recommended. If you use a wheelchair or have reduced mobility, talk to your advisor before reserving so we can review the options.

Questions About This Tour

Where does this Italy tour celebrate New Year's Eve?

In Venice. December 31 begins with a boat to the St. Mark's area and a guided walk, leaves the afternoon free, and ends with the New Year's Eve dinner, which is included in the tour price.

Is the guide Spanish-speaking, and do I need to speak Spanish on this tour?

The guide who travels with the tour speaks Spanish, and the visits are conducted in Spanish with local guides where indicated. Most travelers on this departure are bilingual; if you prefer an English-hosted departure, ask your advisor for the dates that fit.

Which cities does the Italy New Year's Eve tour visit?

Rome, Florence, Pisa, Sestri Levante, Monte Carlo, Nice, Monaco, Venice, Ravenna and Assisi, in that order, with eight hotel nights in Rome, Florence, Nice and the Venice-Mestre area.

Do I need travel insurance to visit Italy?

No policy is required to enter Italy on a US passport, but travel insurance is strongly recommended for this tour. The deposit and both scheduled payments are non-refundable, and medical care abroad is billed to you, so a policy covering trip cancellation, medical treatment and baggage protects the money you have paid. Your advisor can quote a policy when you reserve.

Can I depart from a city other than Miami?

Yes. The included airfare is the direct Miami to Rome and Rome to Miami service. If you live in another US city, your advisor quotes flights from your city to Rome, or from your city to Miami to join the direct flight, and the rest of the tour stays the same.

What travel documents do I need to visit Italy from the US?

A US passport valid at least six months beyond the return date with two blank pages, sent as a copy when you reserve. No visa is needed for US passport holders in Italy, France or Monaco. If the EU's ETIAS authorization starts before your travel date, it is a short online form with a small fee, and your advisor will tell you. Other nationalities: check the visa rules with your advisor.

How do I reserve the Italy New Year's Eve tour, and when are payments due?

Reserve with a low deposit per person, which holds your place. Half of the tour price is due 91 days before departure and the balance 45 days before. Prices are USD 3,430 per person in a triple, USD 3,450 in a double and USD 4,213 in a single.

What can I do in Italy on my free time on this tour?

The tour leaves free time in every main city. In Rome you have the arrival evening of December 27 and the full day of January 3: the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, which your guide offers as an optional visit, and the Borghese Gallery if you book ahead. In Florence the afternoon of December 28 is free for the Uffizi or the Accademia (book ahead) and the artisan shops of the Oltrarno. In Venice the afternoon of December 31 is free for a gondola ride, the Doge's Palace or a vaporetto to Murano and Burano before the New Year's Eve dinner.
