  • Visa: No visa for US passport holders. Good to Know

  • The EU's biometric entry system records a photo and fingerprints on first entry. Hotels are confirmed with your final documents; if a property changes, the replacement is of the same category. European hotel categories are not standardized against US ratings: rooms are usually smaller and many hotels occupy historic or older buildings, some in outer districts. One checked bag up to 50 lb (23 kg) plus a personal item. Airlines assign free seats subject to availability, seats together are not guaranteed, and some carriers charge for seat selection. Half of the tour price is due 91 days before departure and the balance 45 days before; the deposit and both payments are non-refundable, and a medical exception can be requested through your advisor without guarantee. Business-class fares are available on request and must be paid the day they are quoted. Travel insurance is recommended. If you use a wheelchair or have reduced mobility, talk to your advisor before reserving so we can review the options.

Questions About This Tour

Where does the Portugal, Spain and France tour start and end?

It starts in Lisbon and ends in Paris. The included flights leave Miami for Lisbon on February 10 and return from Paris on February 19, so you never backtrack: Portugal, then Spain, then France, in one direction.

Is the guide Spanish-speaking on the Portugal, Spain and France tour?

The guide who travels with the tour speaks Spanish, and the visits are conducted in Spanish, with a local guide in Paris. Most travelers on this departure are bilingual; if you prefer an English-hosted departure, ask your advisor for the dates that fit.

Which cities does the Portugal, Spain and France tour visit?

Lisbon, Estremoz, Caceres, Madrid, San Sebastian, Bordeaux, Chambord, Paris and Versailles, in that order, with eight hotel nights in Lisbon, Madrid, Bordeaux and Paris.

Do I need travel insurance to visit Portugal, Spain and France?

No policy is required to enter Portugal, Spain or France on a US passport, but travel insurance is strongly recommended for this tour. The deposit and both scheduled payments are non-refundable, and medical care abroad is billed to you, so a policy covering trip cancellation, medical treatment and baggage protects the money you have paid. Your advisor can quote a policy when you reserve.

Can I depart from a city other than Miami?

Yes. The included airfare flies from Miami into Lisbon and home from Paris. If you live in another US city, your advisor quotes flights from your city to Lisbon and back from Paris, or from your city to Miami to join the group flights, and the rest of the tour stays the same.

What travel documents do I need to visit Portugal, Spain and France from the US?

A US passport valid at least six months beyond the return date with two blank pages, sent as a copy when you reserve. No visa is needed for US passport holders in Portugal, Spain or France. If the EU's ETIAS authorization starts before your travel date, it is a short online form with a small fee, and your advisor will tell you. Other nationalities: check the visa rules with your advisor.

How do I reserve the Portugal, Spain and France tour, and when are payments due?

Reserve with a low deposit per person, which holds your place. Half of the tour price is due 91 days before departure and the balance 45 days before. Prices are USD 2,644 per person in a triple, USD 2,656 in a double and USD 3,497 in a single.

What can I do in Lisbon, Madrid and Paris on my free time on this tour?

In Lisbon you have the arrival day and the afternoon of February 12: the Bairro Alto viewpoint, a ride on tram 28 through Alfama, or the optional excursion to Sintra, Cascais and Estoril. In Madrid the afternoon of February 14 is free, Valentine's Day: the Prado, Retiro Park, tapas around Plaza Santa Ana, or the optional Toledo visit and flamenco show. In Paris the full day of February 18 is yours: the Louvre or the Musee d'Orsay, the Champs-Elysees, or the optional Seine cruise with the Latin Quarter.
