Documents & Visa

  • Passport: US passport holders enter Spain with a passport only. Your passport must be valid at least six months beyond the return date (six to nine months is asked at booking) with at least two blank pages, and a copy is required when you reserve; the Alhambra entrance is issued against that passport copy.
  • Visa: No visa for US passport holders in Spain. The EU's ETIAS travel authorization is not yet operating; if it launches before your travel date it is a short online form with a small fee, and your advisor will tell you. Travelers with other passports: check the visa rules for your nationality with your advisor.
  • Travelers can join from any gateway worldwide; we arrange departures from any airport, or you can meet the group at the destination.

Good to Know

  • The EU's biometric entry system records a photo and fingerprints on first entry. Hotels are confirmed with your final documents; if a property changes, the replacement is of the same category. European hotel categories are not standardized against US ratings: rooms are usually smaller and many hotels occupy historic or older buildings, some in outer districts. One checked bag up to 50 lb (23 kg) plus a personal item. Airlines assign free seats subject to availability, seats together are not guaranteed, and some carriers charge for seat selection. Half of the tour price is due 91 days before departure and the balance 45 days before; the deposit and both payments are non-refundable, and a medical exception can be requested through your advisor without guarantee. Business-class fares are available on request and must be paid the day they are quoted. Travel insurance is recommended. If you use a wheelchair or have reduced mobility, talk to your advisor before reserving so we can review the options.

Questions About This Tour

Where does the Spain New Year's Eve tour celebrate New Year's Eve?

Is the guide Spanish-speaking on the Spain New Year's Eve tour?

Yes. The guide who travels with the tour speaks Spanish, the visits are conducted in Spanish, and a local guide leads the Cordoba visit. Most travelers on this departure are bilingual; if you prefer an English-hosted departure, ask your advisor for the dates that fit.

Which cities does the Spain New Year's Eve tour visit?

Madrid, Toledo, Puerto Lapice, Granada, Nerja, Malaga, Ronda, Seville, Cordoba and Consuegra, in that order, with six hotel nights in Madrid, Granada and Seville.

Is the Alhambra visit included on the Spain New Year's Eve tour?

Yes. The guided visit to the Alhambra and the Generalife gardens with entrance is included on December 29. Alhambra tickets are issued by name, so a passport copy is required when the group is confirmed; if no entrance slots are available at that moment, the tour visits the Real Alcazar of Seville instead.

Can I depart from a city other than Miami?

Yes. The included airfare is the Miami to Madrid round trip. If you live in another US city, your advisor quotes flights from your city to Madrid, or from your city to Miami to join the included flight, and the rest of the tour stays the same.

What travel documents do I need to visit Spain from the US?

A US passport valid at least six months beyond the return date with two blank pages, sent as a copy when you reserve. No visa is needed for US passport holders in Spain. If the EU's ETIAS authorization starts before your travel date, it is a short online form with a small fee, and your advisor will tell you. Other nationalities: check the visa rules with your advisor.

How do I reserve the Spain New Year's Eve tour, and when are payments due?

What can I do in Madrid and Malaga on my free time on this tour?

In Madrid the afternoon of December 28 is free after Toledo: the Prado, Retiro Park, tapas around the Plaza Santa Ana, or the optional flamenco show that evening. In Malaga on December 30 there is free time for lunch and the historic center, with the Picasso Museum and the Alcazaba a short walk from the center. Travel insurance is recommended for this tour: the deposit and both payments are non-refundable, and your advisor can quote a policy when you reserve.
